'Rose Quartz' 2023
Genuine earth pigments, finely ground stone from Australia and Europe, the root of rose madder plant (historically found in early paintings and fabrics) acacia tree resin and finely beaten metals including Australian 24 karat gold-leaf and various Dutch gold leaf (copper, aluminium, zinc).
 
Featuring Rose quartz cabochon this artwork was inspired by the notion that there is always time to ‘stop and smell the roses’. Life is a series of cycles, meandering through good times and intensely challenging. Yet each is connected and we cannot go through one without the other, it is the nature of being human! Which is why when we get the opportunity to stop occasionally, to take a breath and reflect on the loveliness and perfection of life - everything connected, everything in rhythm and cycles we can smell the roses.
