What's Golden
Acrux Gallery, Solo Exhibition.
An exploration of the 'underdrawing', the Renaissance technique of using charcoal to create the form before the 'real' painting begins.
Here I have prepared the 'canvas' according to strict technique but then stopped with the charcoal - pushing it to be the main feature.
This deconstructed method speaks to the underlying messages of each image, a pretty picture of a cow and calf is also a sad reality that in a moment these two will be separated for human consumption whilst inadvertently contributing to an over-abundance green house emissions.
