Paint made with featured ingredient: Four Waters
[Water (rain, spring, town, distilled), honey, Australian ochres, green earth, ground lapis lazuli, pine ink on traditional gesso on 640gsm archival paper]
Early artists used either rain, river or well water. Once distilleries popped up in local regions there was the option of distilled, whereas modern artists might use the tap or filtered tap. Each has a different Ph, bacterial or mineral content and alters the final tempera paint mix, today it’s a matter of choice.
