[Calcined fallow stag antler, genuine peat earth, unbleached titanium, clover ink, Australian red ochre, oak gall ink on traditional gesso on 640gsm archival paper]
Every year, wild male deer drop their antlers allowing traditional artists to collect them to make a white pigment or glue. For this work I sourced the antlers from a sustainable deer farm in South Australia and followed the old recipe for making a powdery white pigment for tempera.
