[Silky oak tree gum, ochres, green earth, eucalyptus gall and wattle bark ink on traditional gesso on 640gsm archival paper]
This was one of those synchronistic moments, a delivery truck scraped the Silky oak tree in the neighbour’s garden. Over the next few days the tree began to weep a sweet sticky gum. As there were no sugar gliders to harvest it, I tested the gum in the studio as an alternative to gum arabic. As you can see it works well and warrants further research.
