Emu

[Sustainably grown emu oil, lemon myrtle oil, casuarina ink, ochres, ground Lapis Lazuli, amber resin, banksia charcoal, eucalyptus gall ink on traditional gesso on 640gsm archival paper]

For many years it was thought that Aboriginal people only used water when mixing pigments for rock and bark paintings. However, recently it has been established that many different binding mediums were used including emu oil. For this work, I adapted an oil tempera recipe.
